Almanac Auditions

  • MAAS 1325 North Randolph Street Philadelphia, PA, 19122 United States (map)

Almanac Dance Circus Theatre is hosting two workshop auditions for associate artists.

Associate Artist is a one year position, with possibility for extension. Associate Artists perform in schools and educational settings, private events, street festivals, and in commissioned works. Associate artists are asked to attend two three-hour training sessions a week.

Two or possibly three associate artists are sought to fill roles in both a 45-minute performance assembly to be performed in local schools (AcroAction, which Almanac has performed dozens of times over the last 3 years), and ambulatory improvised acrobatic performances to be performed at street festivals and private events.

Performance, improvisation, and acrobatic experience are ideal. A capacity for hard physical work and comfort with highly athletic performance is necessary. Physical risk-takers, intelligent movers and sensitive, present performers are needed. Interest/experience in teaching arts to elementary-high school students is also a plus.

Associate Artists will receive a training stipend, and are guaranteed at least 5 paid performance opportunities over the course of the year. Regular training times are typically weekdays, with additional rehearsals on weekends, evenings, and days scheduled around participant’s schedules. Almanac’s performances typically pay $150-$300.

LGBTQ+ and POC are highly encouraged to apply.

Workshop auditions will be held:
October 1, 10am-1pm, and
October 1, 7-10pm

To apply, please email thealmanac.us@gmail.com with the subject “Associate Artist Position.” Please include a headshot, full body shot, resume, and 2-5 sentence cover letter. Non-professional photographs are acceptable, as are short biographies in lieu of resumes. Please be sure to note which workshop session you are able to attend. We will confirm with you after receiving your submission to let you know where the workshops will be and what you need to prepare.
