Human Camouflage: The Discoveries of Jeanne Baret

  • new york botanical garden 2900 Southern Boulevard Bronx, NY, 10458 United States (map)

A brand-new, genre defying work of acrobatic theatre that introduces audiences to the story of Jeanne Baret, the first woman to circumnavigate the globe, who did so while dressed as a man. It is exceedingly likely that while on her voyage to the West Indies aboard the √Čtoile, Jeanne Baret discovered and documented many species of Mauritian and other Orchids that were, necessarily, credited to her lover and student, Philibert Commerson. Join Almanac for a 15-minute workshop production of what will eventually become a full-length work.
